The doctrine of virtue is also adjusted according to the “living right” measure of Epicurus.

Virtues, however, are tools for a righteous living; here are the meanings and values of the virtues; they have no value in themselves; however, virtues are valuable things in that they serve happiness.

Hence the value of being knowledgeable (wise), which is the main virtue for man (phronesis = wise view); Through wisdom man realizes that other virtues are also necessary. For him, wisdom is the “highest good” (megiston agaton). By virtue of this virtue one can weigh pleasures in terms of their consequences; evaluate its various effects in terms of the general attitude of meeting its needs; finds the right measure of their anticipation, their fear; can get rid of delusional visions, feelings, desires; He can reach a happy heart by tasting life in moderation.
