Feuerbach’s Dialectical Understanding

Feuerbach’s Dialectical Understanding

The German thinker Feuerbach became an intellectual bridge between reflectiveism and dialectical materialism. In Feuerbach, crude materialism tends towards a dialectical path. According to him, religion is a self-respect. However, man has developed this virtue outside himself by alienating himself under the name of religion. Philosophy teaches man to overcome this contradiction, and by overcoming this contradiction, man understands that religion is a relation between people. This material and dialectical transcendence develops man.

The truth of religion is in love. Previously, humans created gods who were fantastic reflections of their own qualities, but the gods were not enough to establish the order of humanity. However, what will establish this order is the loyalty of a person towards other people. This commitment reaches its most perfect form in love. Sexual love is the most concentrated form of this emotional human attachment. All problems between people will be solved by the power of love. The basis of the structure of being is ‘matter’, but it is itself ‘thought’…

As can be seen, Feuerbach’s materialism is a materialism that eventually leads back to idealism, and is another variant of Hegelianism. Opposite the materialist Feuerbach, who forbids man to worship God, is the thinker Feuerbach, who commands man to worship man. Feuerbach says, “I am with materialism behind, but not forward”. Engels also says: “Feuerbach’s true idealism is seen in his philosophy and ethics of religion. Feuerbach never wants to abolish religion. He wants to develop it. Philosophy itself must dissolve into religion.”
