Philosophy – Wisdom RelationshipJune 26, 2021
Reaching a complete and complete knowledge on existence, knowledge and value is called wisdom (wisdom/sophia). Wisdom is knowing the essence of all that is going on. Wisdom is universal knowledge, that is, knowledge that encompasses everything. Philosophy makes no such claim. Questioning is essential in philosophy, philosophy does not aim to reach wisdom. Philosophy is knowledge in the sense of loving wisdom and turning to it.
“What is it?” used in thinking activity. The essence of existence, the possibilities and limits of human knowledge, and the place of man in the universe are tried to be determined with philosophical questions in the style of philosophy.
Reaching a complete and definitive answer to such questions is the emergence of complete and complete knowledge on existence, knowledge and value, or when a person reaches maturity to have such knowledge, that is, wisdom.
He who does not know and knows that he does not know is a child; teach him!
Who knows and who does not know he knows is asleep; wake him up!
He who does not know and does not know that he does not know is a fool; beware of it!
He who knows and knows what he knows is a leader; follow it!
THE RELATIONSHIP OF PHILOSOPHY – WISDOM
Wisdom is knowing the essence of everything that happens.
Philosophy does not claim to know everything.
Philosophy is knowledge not in the sense of attaining wisdom, but in the sense of loving it, yearning for it, and turning towards it.
Wisdom is universal knowledge, that is, knowledge that encompasses everything. It is almost like a building (structure) containing everything from its foundation to its roof. We can also call this building the wisdom building; because it contains information. Each information space is like a room inside this building. The rooms (information areas) are all under the same roof. Philosophy is nothing but this roof.
That is, philosophy is considered the most universal field of knowledge that gathers all fields of knowledge under its wing. Wisdom is the whole of the building.
It is also known that in line with Islamic thought, philosophers were called “hükema” in Ottoman Turkish. “Hükema” literally means “judges, sages”. Here, too, wisdom has been handled more comprehensively than philosophy, as we have just mentioned, and the definition of “the wise person who has grasped the hidden causes of existence and life” has been made for people with wisdom.
