Pythagorean’s Understanding of Knowledge and Philosophy?June 27, 2021
Pythagoreanism is a kind of faith cult based on certain rules of life. Among these rules of life were interesting rules such as not eating beans or meat, not mixing iron with fire. These attitudes show that the ancient Greek philosophers were now interested in moral problems.
This tradition of living of the Pythagoreans later appears in Harokies, Socrates and Stoa. According to this understanding, philosophy is man’s ability to take responsibility for himself. Here we see that man has a moral responsibility. This means that while these people were doing some theoretical work, they also worked on how to live in practical life. This can be called living knowledge. In that case, it can be said that philosophy has become a way of life with Pythagoras.
