What are the social benefits of philosophy?

On the individual level, the philosophy that liberates man by liberating him from the habit of habits provides very important services on a general level or on a social platform.

First of all, we can say that philosophy is the source of all modern ideologies like liberalism, conservatism and socialism. In other words, it was the philosophers who read their times correctly, formulating and formulating these ideologies or political philosophies.

Today, on the other hand, despite its shortcomings, it is widely accepted that democracy is the best form of government. Philosophy makes a significant contribution to the development and functioning of democracy as a form of government at work. Because  democracypeople work when they have a critical perspective. The culture of democracy settles when they learn to see what is happening to people in different ways, to question themselves and others; democracy only works when people are not bigoted but can be prejudiced and tolerant. Only a philosophical view can teach to see the other as a being, at least with a moral value that deserves equal respect and treatment. It is only philosophy and a philosophical point of view that will give people these basic habits and virtues.

Indeed, we need philosophy to respect differences, to provide the minimum conditions for living with others. In this respect, the philosophy that we need especially shows that the conflicts between people have been going on for thousands of years and that these conflicts can be found everywhere. Moreover, philosophy shows that conflicts between people can be resolved through the application of universal ethical principles, such as fairness, justice, respect for the opinions and rights of others, from a high flying plane.

Again, philosophy only shows that the main reason for the conflict between people is the sacrifice of an individual’s identity, ideas and self-expression. The reason for this sacrifice is often the desire to identify with the group or community. Indeed, in order to provide them with security and comfort, people forget their individual identities and become attached to a collective identity. They seek refuge in a group, congregation or an ideology; Before being “Ali”, “Parents”, “Hans”, “George” or “a humble person., They were“ feminist ”,“ Christian ”,“ American ”,“ nationalist ”,“ socialist ”, and so on. They prefer to be. When we change our individual identity with our group identity, we give up an important part of our freedom of thought, belief and behavior. We adopt the demand of harmony in the unity of thought and belief of the community. The group includes us, it gives us a collective identity; While addressing our urge to belonging, it saves us the trouble of searching for ourselves. The same community allows us to see ourselves as needed, while providing us with security and comfort. But when we do, we begin to see the group or community we belong to as the center of humanity. We come to see those who are not in this group and think differently as enemies. Because we have divided the world into “we” and “them”, that is ourselves and others, believers and disbelievers, patriots and solders. It goes without saying that “we üstün are superior to“ them her anytime and anywhere. It can only show us a philosophical attitude that this is not the case. It can only show us a philosophical attitude that this is not the case. we see ourselves as enemies of different thinkers. Because we have divided the world into “we” and “them”, that is ourselves and others, believers and disbelievers, patriots and solders. It goes without saying that “we üstün are superior to“ them her at all times and everywhere. It can only show us a philosophical attitude that this is not the case.

Philosophy can only show that they are necessary for social development and progress, not only by understanding and tolerating differences. Let us think about it: If everyone continued to think that the world was flat and still, we would believe that the world is still standing in the center of the universe in the form of a flat tray. It was a good thing one day had the courage to rise and say that the earth was round and that the sun revolved around it, taking death. Have we ever wondered how many ideas that were regarded as heretical in the past, considered impossible and therefore banned have become the most ordinary truths of our time? Thinking and living the same way, would it be possible for a society of atoms or clones to believe in the same things to flourish? Teach people to live with each other in peace; Is there anything that can show their differences, other than philosophy, that they can live happier and more prosperous when they make the basis of their collaborations, not their conflicts? Isn’t it the philosophy that shows us that we have the right to learn the truth, that it is better to learn the truth? It should not be forgotten that as long as we do not have the freedom to think, discuss and express our ideas, we can neither reach the truth nor know the truth. For the truth arises from different ideas that collide freely. Otherwise, the only alternative remains to submit to us forcing us to accept errors and mistakes. What shows us this is philosophy, philosophers.
