What is Contradiction of Opposites, What Does It Mean?July 2, 2021
The change that occurs as a result of the exclusion of opposites. It is synonymous with the phrase ‘the struggle of opposites’. In the dialectical materialist language of philosophy, ‘contradiction’ is a contradictory relation and is therefore synonymous with the idiom ‘contradiction’. However, this ‘dialectical contradiction’ should never be confused with ‘logical contradiction’. Logical contradiction expresses inconsistency in thoughts. For example, if we say “this thing is both plus and minus at the same time” we would be logically conflicted (actually we don’t, N.), but this is not the case in nature and objective reality, for example “atom is both positive and negative”. it’s also negative”, because it carries both positively and negatively charged particles, which is a scientific fact. Thus, it is necessary to distinguish between formal logic contradictions arising from the master and thought and dialectical objective contradictions arising from nature and reality. This is because the rational and logical is abstract, natural, and the real is concrete.
The abstract is frozen and unchanging, so an intellectual leaf cannot be green and yellow at the same time; against this the concrete is dynamic and changes, so a real leaf can be both green and yellow at the same time. Therefore, metaphysicians and idealists argue that contradiction is peculiar to thought, and that there can be no contradiction in nature. This is the enduring argument of all metaphysics and idealism, from the ancient Zeno to the contemporary American thinker S. Hook. Metaphysicians and idealists are not content with this false assertion, they transfer the immobility and immutability of intellectual abstraction to nature and objective reality and say, for example, that “history consists of repetitions” or “there is nothing new under the sun”. Yet, just as history is never repeated, there is never anything old under the sun, both are new and brand new every moment. Because the natural and objective contradiction is a contradiction that destroys the old and creates the new.
