What is Essence and Fact?July 2, 2021
Two dependent aspects of objective reality. Relatively continuous, basic and inner view of objective reality with the concept of self; Relatively variable, accidental and external appearance is expressed with the concept of phenomenon. In scientific knowledge, the facts are analyzed and the knowledge of the essence is obtained. That is why knowing the close dependence of fact and essence is very important in the information process. “The sciences would be superfluous if the essences of things and their appearances coincided without any means.” Science consists in the analysis of the invisible essence on the surface through its appearance. If science were content with observing the revolution of the sun around the earth, the fact that the earth revolves around the sun would never be known and the results of this knowledge innumerable would not be realized.
True knowledge is knowledge of the essence underlying the phenomenon. It is absolutely necessary to know the essence of any entity, system or process. Because facts or appearances are often deceptive. The phrase “don’t be deceived by appearances” in the colloquial language also expresses this scientific fact. For example, the sun appears to revolve around the earth, but in reality the earth revolves around the sun. True knowledge is knowledge of the self. However, knowledge of essence is always obtained from knowledge of appearance. For example, the essence of the living organism is metabolism (the exchange of matter with its environment, which is the only quality that distinguishes the living from the inanimate). But this essence occurs in billions of plant and animal species. We have understood that these billions of species, which differ from each other in appearance, unite in vitality, by going down to the essence of each of them from their individual appearances.
Understanding that a tiger, a plane tree and a human are from the same essence was only possible by reaching the knowledge of the essence. The inner side, which is hidden from us, and the outer side, which we detect from the knowledge of objective reality (objects, systems, processes), and the outer side, which is open to our perceptions, in particular, show two other features that are quite different from them, although they are close to the features expressed by the concepts of fact: content and form. subjective and general. Content and form should not be confused with essence and fact statements. However, the terms content and form have been expressed by some of our circles as form and essence, so it has been confused with essence and fact. However, in order to obtain the full knowledge of objective reality, it is necessary to obtain the dependent knowledge of content and form, special and general, as well as essence and fact.
