What is Imagination, What Does It Mean?July 2, 2021
The ability to think in images. Imagination is the ability to combine acquired images and design new images from these combinations. This ability, which is claimed to be human, gradually rises from recreating an acquired image to creativity. An image created by imagination may not have an objective counterpart in nature, but the basic tools of that created image are images reflected from objects.
Imagination that re-enacts an acquired image is called mnemonic imagination or regenerative imagination, creative imagination that produces breakthroughs. It should not confuse the scientific meaning of imagination with memory, thought, delusion, and fantasy. In the Dictionary of Psychological Terms, imagination is defined as “the mental pattern created by making associations from our past experiences”.
