Space covered with matter.

The debate about whether there is an empty space in the universe has been going on since Ancient Greek philosophy. The atomists, Epicurus and Lucretius, were of the opinion that there must be a vacuum for atoms to move. On the other hand, according to the French philosopher Descartes, for example, there is no empty space. Because space and matter are the same thing, space is the covering of matter.

That is why there cannot be empty space, because it means that there is space without a substance, which is not possible. The space is full of matter. Descartes explains how motion can take place in this case as follows: Space matter is liquid and constantly flows. Solid bodies do not move by themselves, they are replaced by the flow of this liquid. In other words, solid filling is placed in liquid filling and motion consists of solid filling floating in liquid filling.
