What is Quantitative, What Does It Mean?July 2, 2021
It’s about beauty. It is synonymous with the quantitative term and is used in response to the qualitative term. Science has developed by transforming the qualitative into the quantitative. Aristotelian physics, for example, is qualitative, based on the description of similarity and otherness; Galilean physics is quantitative, based on the mathematical ratios of the whole and the parts. For example, the rainbow was a qualitative event according to Descartes, its scientific reason being understood by being able to be measured (i.e., by substituting quantitative information for qualitative information).
