All citizens of a country. This idiom generally refers to the entire population of a country. It also includes minorities of different languages, religions, cultures and of various nationalities. In ancient Rome, non-citizens from the senate were called populus. In a certain sense it is synonymous with the word nation. The members of the society who were excluded from the intellectual and civil servant community and who did not interfere or were not involved in politics and administration were also called the people. Populist movements are the reaction of this meaning. This meaning also includes ignorance, it is defined as “a human community comprising various classes participating in the development of a particular country at a given period of time”. All of these classes and strata that participated in the transformation in the historical process are called the mass of the people.
