Supporters of this movement are called Batıcı (Os. Garpçı). He expresses his wish to overcome feudal backwardness and join the order of European capitalism (capitalism). In Ottoman terminology, it is synonymous with reformism (Fr. Reformisme). This trend has shown the nature of a desire to become bourgeois in societies that are capable of transitioning to capitalism (for example, in Russia), and a slogan used as a pretext for realizing the common interests of European states and the internal ruling classes that joined them in societies that cannot be converted to capitalism (for example, the Ottoman Empire).
