Trying to protect the old by resisting the new. It is used in contrast to Progressive. It also includes the meaning of ignorant, because it is impossible to be knowledgeable and reactionary.

The nature of the reactionary… is defined by trying to turn the wheel of history back. Reactionism is the product of metaphysical thinking that everything remains the same and never changes. As with many products of metaphysical thought, it is also self-contradictory, it carries the contradiction of resisting the change that it considers certain to not happen. All natural and social events go on changing and renewing at every moment, and reactionism necessarily means ignorance, including not being conscious of this scientific fact. Reaction, on the other hand, is an unethical phenomenon (it is immoral, N.) because it is knowledgeable and in line with its interests.
