Charles Bayet KiFrench journalist and sociologist Charles Bayet was born in Lyon in 1880. After graduating in 1901, he was promoted to professor at Lycée Louis-le-Grand in 1922 as a result of his studies. In 1923, the ethics department began its work.
Bayet, who attracted attention with his sociological education, rationalism and his thoughts on moral truth, put forward ideas that defended fundamental freedoms. He collaborated with many radical-socialist newspapers and was chairman of the underground press federation during the Second World War. He also chaired the National Press Federation and the Education League (1945-1959).
He worked with author Victor Charbonnel in L’Action magazine. He was also a member of the French Human Rights Commission for many years. Bayet, who was also interested in politics, was one of the defenders of the Messianic theory. Together with Paul-Louis Couchoud and Prosper Alfaric, he wrote the book “Jesus and the Problem of Christian Origins” (Le Problème de Jésus et les Origines du Christianisme) (1932).
