Claude Frederic Claude Frédéric Bastiat (June 30, 1801–December 24, 1850) was a French theorist of classical liberalism, political economist, and member of the French Assembly.
He worked as a merchant, farmer, judge, and parliamentarian. According to Bastiat; If people work for their own benefit, God helps them. He was buried in San Luigi dei Francesi in Rome.
According to Bastiat, the only duty of the state should be to protect the life, freedom and property of the individual and therefore he is against socialist policies, because according to him, socialist laws create contradiction by causing the state to violate the principles that it is obliged to protect.
