Who is False Dionysus?June 26, 2021
M.S. Christian thinker who lived in the mid-fifth century and concealed his true personality. The philosopher, who lived in the Middle East, possibly Syria, and introduced himself in his works as a follower of St. Paul, spoke of three different ways of knowing God.
According to False Dionysos, who says that God is the transcendent and efficient cause of everything that exists, God created the universe freely and out of nothing through the example or archetypal Ideas in him. God is also the final or final cause, for the Being that is Good, as the highest Good, attracts to itself all beings that long for goodness. False Dionisos spoke of my species on the subject of creation, in accordance with the Platonist and Neo-Platonist tradition of Patrictic philosophy, which culminated in St. Augustine, and combined the Christian doctrine of creation with Plotinus’s doctrine of species.
