Who is Ferekidis, Greek philosopher who lived around 600 BC.
It comes from the island of Syros and is contemporary with the emergence of the Seven arts, having different powers over them. His writings “About Nature and the Gods” are known. He taught the famous Pythagoras as well as Thales of Miletus. Like others, he was one of the foundations of philosophy, and his ideas were influential in the Renaissance. The famous painter Giorgione painted a painting that portrays all three philosophers. In this painting, Ferekidis is depicted as an oriental because in the Renaissance he was introduced as a Syrian, not a Syrosian.
