Fredrich Fröbel Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel (or Froebel) (German pronunciation: [ˈfʁiːdʁɪç ˈvɪlhɛlm ˈaʊɡʊst ˈfʁøːbəl]; (21 April 1782 – died 21 June 1852) was a German educator and philosopher.
He was particularly interested in pre-school education and in 1837 he established the first kindergarten. Fröbel, who was in favor of the views of J. J. Rousseau and Pestalozzi, put forward the view that everything should be left to nature and that the development of children should be facilitated by outdoor exercises, games and songs.
