Lebanese-American painter, poet and philosopher.

Gibran was born in Lebanon in 1883. His works and thoughts had wide repercussions around the world. Gibran was also an accomplished painter, whose poems have been translated into more than twenty languages. Some of his paintings are exhibited in many cities of the world today.

The author, who spent the last twenty years of his life in the USA, wrote his works in English in this country where he stayed until his death.

One of Khalil Gibran’s most famous works, Nabi, which was first published in 1923, is a mixed poetry essay book consisting of a total of 26 poems. When a soothsayer named El Mustafa was stopped by a group of people when he was about to leave the city of Orphalese, where he stayed for 12 years, and to go home, and the conversations between the main hero and the people about humanity and the general state of life, the book itself is composed. There are those who claim to point to Muhammad.

However, the texts in the book mostly show similarities and parallels in terms of content and style with Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, which takes place in chapter 5 of the Gospel according to Matthew. Considering the author’s studies in the book titled “İsa, the Son of Man”, the claims that El Mustafa may be the Messiah, the son of Mary, gain even more strength.

The Garden of the Hermit is a sequel to Khalil Gibran’s The Hermit. It was translated into Turkish by R.Tanju Sirmen. Publication year 1999.
