Panaetius (Greek: Παναίτιος) influential thinker of the Middle Stoa, 185-109 BC.

Panaetius, who gave up the idealistic essence of Stoicism to a certain extent, rejected the ideal of spiritual calmness and indifference, while denying the existence of truly wise people, argued that the ultimate and highest goal in the field of morality is to develop and perfect the essence of the individual as much as possible.
