Théodule-Armand Ribot (1839-1916) was a French psychologist and thinker.

Ribot was a professor, first at the Sorbonne and then at the Collège de France. He is considered the first French experimental psychology theorist. His work is in line with the psychophysiological teaching of personality. As a result of his research, he revealed the laws of dissolution of memory. The least stable memories are the latest, most complex, and have the least emotional meaning and are easily lost, while the oldest memories charged with excitement have the greatest durability.
