Ulrich Beck was a German sociologist, physician and publisher who lived from May 15, 1944 to January 1, 2015. Born in 1944 in Slupsk, Poland, Beck spent his childhood in the German city of Hanover and studied sociology, philosophy, psychology and political sciences in Munich in the 1960s and 1970s.
Ulrich Beck received the title of professor of sociology at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 1992. Ulrich Beck, who died at the age of 70, had become one of the world’s most famous and most cited sociologists in recent years. His book Risk Society, which he wrote in 1986, has been translated into 35 languages. Beck focused on issues such as climate change, terrorism and financial crises in his work.
