Who is Wilhelm von Humboldt?June 26, 2021
Friedrich Wilhelm Christian Carl Ferdinand von Humboldt, briefly, Wilhelm von Humboldt
German philosopher, linguist and statesman. He was co-founder of the University of Berlin (today’s Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin).
He is regarded as one of the great and influential figures in the history of German culture, who had a forward impact. With a similar investigative motive, he is considered together with his brother Alexander, who has served universal science in many ways and has an epic history of his own. While Alexander opened new horizons in natural sciences (but not only in this field), Wilhelm formed the basic principles of social sciences by dealing with social sciences.
He also emphasized the relationship of language with society and culture for the first time, and argued that language is not a complete thing and that it is constantly developing.
